Our boys' apartment was constructed to provide them with a bright and pleasant environment to enjoy their days as "working" cattery studs. It's necessary to confine whole males in a cattery due to their unpleasant habit of marking "their" territory against competing males. This means any place they especially like, such as Jan's pillow or Haley's (the Doberman Pinscher) mat.

We make a point of ensuring they visit with the family wearing their "stud duds" as well as playtime with the other cats. Once males have contributed offspring for the breeding program, they are surgically altered and loving pet homes are found for them to retire in leisure. Our experience has shown a neutered indoor male taken out of a competitive environment integrates well and does not spray.
